The Alana were a tall, fair-skinned human subrace, revered as one of the primary peoples of the Wildlands alongside the Nordisa. Tracing their ancestry back to the era known as Origins II, they bore an ancient and powerful legacy rooted in both magic and martial skill. Known for their elegance and skill, the Alana were also unique among humans in possessing a rare trait called the Infracanus—a mystical characteristic that caused one of their eyes to emit an ethereal glow, symbolizing their deep connection to the arcane weave that ran through Eos. Stories of the Infracanus echoed across generations, making them almost mythic figures in tales told among the Wildlands.
Experienced
The Alana were known for their insatiable curiosity and intellect. They were well-traveled and highly educated, devoting themselves to a life of exploration and learning. From their youth, Alana were trained to read the stars, interpret ancient texts, and learn the lore of their ancestors. This natural thirst for knowledge made them not only fierce explorers of physical landscapes but also of the realms of wisdom and philosophy. Their scholars traversed vast deserts, braved mountain passes, and navigated deep forests, recording every encounter, every plant and animal, as they sought to understand and master the world around them. This drive gave rise to Alana libraries filled with maps, ancient scrolls, and grimoires of arcane knowledge, prized and protected by their people.
Description
The Alana were easily recognized by their tall, lean stature and their beige skin, complemented by fair features and a graceful, slender frame. Standing around 6′2″ on average, they possessed an agile strength, allowing them to move with a fluid grace rarely seen in other human tribes. This physical prowess, combined with a sharp mind, made them natural warriors and spellcasters. Alana warriors trained in a unique blend of physical and mystical arts, drawing on ancient practices that emphasized swift movement, endurance, and the ability to channel arcane energy directly into their combat techniques. Their appearance alone inspired both awe and intimidation, as they exuded a quiet, unshakable confidence rooted in their balanced mastery of body and mind.

Arcana
In Eosian history, the Alana were revered as true students of the arcane. While magic existed in various forms among the human subraces of the Wildlands, the Alana had an unparalleled affinity for the craft, delving deeper into its mysteries and pushing the limits of its potential. Renowned sorcerers, spellweavers, and elementalists were often of Alana descent, with family lineages that held grimoires passed down for centuries. Legends told of Alana mages who could summon storms, weave illusions that could trick armies, and communicate with spirits of nature. Their spellwork became so advanced that it was believed Alana mages could read the very flow of magic within the world, an ability known as “Veinweaving,” allowing them to control arcane energies with a mere gesture.
Infracanus
The generations of Alana magic-users eventually produced a rare mutation known as the Infracanus. Among a select few, one eye developed an otherworldly glow, illuminating with a faint aura visible from several feet away. This unique trait marked them as vessels of ancient magic, with colors varying from green, blue, red, to purple, depending on the elemental affinity of the bearer. Those gifted with the Infracanus were rumored to possess the ability to perceive hidden magical energies, foresee future events, and even peer into the thoughts of others. Alana folklore held that the Infracanus allowed the bearer to “see” into the Weave itself, making them invaluable as seers, mystics, and advisors in both war and peace.
Dexterous Combat
Alana warriors, with their slender yet athletic physiques, were unmatched in the arts of finesse-based combat. Celebrated for their swift reflexes and unmatched precision, they mastered the use of ranged weaponry, particularly the longbow, which became synonymous with Alana fighters. Many Alana warriors were trained from youth to blend archery with magic, allowing them to enchant their arrows mid-flight or even release waves of energy with each shot. Stories were told of Alana fighters who could launch arrows that bent with the wind, striking enemies hidden in cover, and legends spoke of archers who could bring down foes from hundreds of paces with enchanted arrows that burst into flame or froze on impact.
Regions
The Alana were widespread across the Wildlands, their influence reaching into every corner of the realm. They thrived in diverse terrains—from the towering mountains where they built fortified strongholds, to the mist-shrouded forests, and even the arid deserts, where they adapted to the challenging conditions with ease. Each region had its unique Alana communities, whose customs and attire reflected their environment but remained rooted in their shared heritage. The Alana’s presence across Eos marked the Wildlands as their homeland, and they were known as protectors of its ancient secrets.
History
Among the oldest of Eos’s cultures, the Alana were credited with creating the first written language. Around 5000 AA (Ancient Age), Alana sages, after years of research and dedication, developed Gorgerian, which would become the common language of the Wildlands. The creation of Gorgerian led to the founding of the Palpate of Sages, an esteemed council dedicated to preserving and sharing Alana knowledge. Though the early sages had not yet discovered the arts of magic, they held a profound understanding of natural philosophy and the stars, insights that would later inspire the Alana’s arcane practices. Their early wisdom guided the tribes of the ancient world and laid the groundwork for the first Tribal Conquests, which ultimately united village
