An Infracanus is the eventual assimilation of arcane essence derived from the grey weave within the physical, biological flesh and blood form of three mamolonian humanoids, half-lunara elves, alana humans and to a much lesser extent, skel. This assimilation is always confined to one single eye of the humanoid, and always appears in the right eye. Why the infracanus only manifests in the right eye is not fully understood.
Origins
It is written in the tomes of Ex Arcanotis, ancient elves and alana humans were the first to discover the grey weave and learn to tap into its power. The two races did so simultaneously within their cultures. The populations of these two races produced many elite sages who would practice magic so often, the essence of the grey weave itself had become genetically infused within their blood.
In historical terms, shortly after the half-lunara elves and humans, the ancient shamans of the skel also learned to tap into the grey weave and some of their kind, too, experienced the same manifestation of arcane essence, also in their right eyes. It is important to note that unlike the half-lunara elves and alana humans, skel with infracanuses are very rare.
For eons, the world’s great sages tried to learn about this phenomenon, particularly what determines its color and why it always appears in the right eye. Only theories have been pondered, including the possibility that those within these particular three races who possess the infracanus are somehow genetically connected to the grey weave itself.
Description
The infracanus of the eye does not distort the natural composition of the eye. It is only an aura, a soft light, which appears as a color over the open eye. The subtle light from the infracanus always glows brighter when the creature that possesses it is using magic. The color of the infracanus differs in each creature at random and is either green, red, blue or violet.
The only creatures known to have a natural infracanus are mamolonians, and among them only the alana humans, half-lunara elves and in smaller numbers, skel, possess them.
