The Overlord’s Tournament was the oldest sporting event in the Wildlands and was recognized worldwide. It was originally created by Atharion dara in 770 MA. The Fyreburhl, as well as the Nordisa humans, were challenged by the dara to prove which race possess the most physical prowess. It is a traveling event that tours both major cities and countryside once each year.

The events of the Overlord’s Tournament begin with 3 challenges, all involving physical strength.

Rock Master

A contestant must lift boulders from the ground, and walk 100 ft. with it on their shoulder, then stop and toss the boulder as far as they can from a stationary position.

Arm Wrestling

Contestants compete in 3 rounds of classic arm wrestling.

Pillar Lift

Contests stand on two stone alters, one foot on each, the grasp two thick canvas straps that are wrapped around a stone pillar. They must attempt to lift larger and larger pillars.

The top 4 contests face off in the Savior event

Saviour

Using thick hempen rope, the contestants must pull a wagon filled with 8 humanoids up a slightly pitched trail as far as they can.

The final two face off in the “Hail to thee!” challenge.

Hail to thee!

Contestants must both simultaneously hold two large mauls, one in each hand with their arms raised and out to their side, forming a cross like pose. Whoever holds them the longest wins the tournament.

The Overlord

The winner of the contest is crowned Overlord and wins 5000 gold pieces and the “Oxhead”, a silver statue that has been molded into a bulls head. In addition, they are also paid to promote the event in and around the chosen location of next year’s event.
