The Gor were a diverse and enigmatic race that had thrived for millennia, their history deeply intertwined with the natural forces of their world. They were a people known for their adaptability and strong connection to their environment, divided into two distinct subraces: the Grey Gor and Woodslin Gor. Each subrace bore unique traits and histories, yet they shared a common lineage and a profound respect for the balance of their realms.
The Grey Gor
The Grey Gor, often considered the most mysterious of their kind, were marked by their ash-grey skin and sharp, reflective eyes. They inhabited the rugged mountain ranges and deep caverns, where they developed a reputation as master builders and crafters of arcane architecture. Ancient legends spoke of their role as keepers of the world’s seismic energy, a duty passed down from the Ides Pantheon itself. These deities entrusted the Grey Gor with guarding the great Earthroots—living veins of energy that ran through the planet’s crust, believed to stabilize its core.
Centuries ago, the Grey Gor forged an uneasy alliance with the Anaqua and Kunnus Giants, their strength and resilience complementing the Gor’s ingenuity. Together, they defended the Earthroots against a devastating incursion by the malevolent Red Dara, who sought to exploit this energy for their destructive ends. Although victorious, the alliance fractured over the spoils of war, leaving the Grey Gor isolated once more.

The Woodslin Gor
The Woodslin Gor were the forest-dwellers, easily identified by their bark-like skin and antler-like protrusions. Living in harmony with nature, they served as guardians of the ancient woodlands, which were said to be the birthplace of the Ides Pantheon. The Woodslin believed their ancestral duty was to maintain the balance between the mortal world and the Wild Veil, a mystical plane that intersected with their forests.
Their folklore often recounted the tale of the Verdant Accord, a pact formed between the Woodslin Gor and the Atharion dara. This agreement ensured that both races would protect the Wild Veil from corruption. However, the Red Dara’s emergence fractured this alliance, as their relentless incursions into the forests disrupted the delicate equilibrium. The Woodslin Gor fought valiantly, but their numbers dwindled in the face of their enemies’ fire magic.
Despite their losses, the Woodslin Gor remained resilient. They developed the ability to blend seamlessly into their surroundings, becoming almost indistinguishable from the trees themselves. Over time, they established a network of hidden groves, each containing ancient shrines dedicated to the Ides Pantheon. These groves served as sanctuaries for their people and as a reminder of their sacred duty.
Shared Legacy
While the Grey Gor and Woodslin Gor differed greatly in their appearances and habitats, their shared reverence for balance and their resilience in the face of adversity united them. They believed their race was forged from the elements themselves, with each embodying a fragment of the world’s primal essence. Though separated by geography and culture, the Gor always held fast to their belief in the interconnectedness of all life, a philosophy that continued to guide their actions in a world fraught with conflict.
