It is believed Puppet magic originated with the Awasa voodoo shaman of Acamiajem.

This magic would allow the caster to place a creature into a hypnotic trance. While in the trance the target could not move or take actions, and its mind went blank awaiting questions from the caster.  The target was unable to lie when in the trance.
