Jan-Tua (pronounced jon-too-ah) was the tribal elder of the Kunnus Giants, dwelling within the Anaqua Empire islands off the southern coast of Vüdos. At over 200 years old, he reigned as king of the densely forested island of Ambala since 1,333 MA. Despite his advanced age, Jan-Tua wielded immense power, not only as a towering Kunnus Giant but also as a regional leader whose influence shaped the fate of the Anaqua Empire.
Jan-Tua’s rule was marked by a combination of wisdom and ruthlessness. Under his reign, the Kunnus Giants solidified their dominance over Ambala’s lush but perilous terrain, creating fortified enclaves deep within the island’s forests. While his people revered him for uniting the often-fractious Kunnus clans, others feared his insatiable ambition. His armies, known as the Crimson Vanguard, became infamous for their ferocity, their thunderous marches leaving nothing but destruction in their wake.
Jan-Tua was said to possess a deep connection to the elemental deities of the Ides Pantheon, claiming his strength came from their blessings. Legends spoke of his enchanted warhammer, Hrothmorn, which could shatter stone and call forth storms. Despite his might, Jan-Tua’s reign was shadowed by controversy, as his relentless expansionism brought him into conflict with the neighboring Vüdosi kingdoms and even other Dara subraces.

Jan-Tua and Anaqua
Despite his fearsome reputation, Jan-Tua maintained an uneasy but crucial alliance with the Anaqua people, the native inhabitants of the islands. Recognizing the strategic importance of unity against external threats, Jan-Tua struck an accord with the Anaqua leaders, blending the brute strength of the Kunnus Giants with the seafaring expertise of the Anaqua tribes. Together, they established a formidable coastal defense network, with the Kunnus Giants patrolling the shores and constructing massive stone watchtowers that could withstand both time and tide. Jan-Tua’s Crimson Vanguard served as the vanguard of this defense, their imposing presence deterring pirate fleets and rival powers from daring to approach. In turn, the Anaqua people provided vital intelligence, swift reconnaissance boats, and their mastery of coral-based magic to fortify the seas. Though the alliance was fraught with tension, Jan-Tua often convened with Anaqua elders under the sacred banyan groves of Ambala, where they forged strategies to repel invaders and protect the empire’s sovereignty. This partnership, though pragmatic, symbolized a rare moment of unity between the towering Kunnus and their human counterparts.
