The Cabros are a fearsome and tribal species that inhabit the treacherous marshlands of the Wildlands, lands filled with dense swamps and tangled undergrowth. These humanoid creatures possess a combination of human and reptilian features, with stout, muscular bodies and the heads of vicious crocodilian beasts. Standing shorter than an average human, they make up for their smaller stature with brute strength, agility, and savage ferocity. Their long, fang-filled jaws can deliver a deadly bite, capable of tearing through flesh and bone with ease, making them formidable predators in both their natural habitat and on the battlefield.
Living in tightly-knit groups called “basks,” the Cabros are a communal species, bound by a shared sense of survival and conquest. While they are not highly intelligent, they are clever enough to build simple yet sturdy villages made from the natural materials of their swampy environment—tree wood, reeds, and swamp grass. These settlements are often hidden deep within the marshlands, camouflaged by the thick foliage, and serve as the base from which the Cabros launch their raids and ambushes on nearby villages and settlements.
The Cabros are well-trained in the art of combat, wielding crude but effective weapons like spears, axes, bows and clubs. They also wear armor made from the hides of creatures they have hunted, giving them both protection and an intimidating appearance. Their natural agility and connection to the swamp environment make them experts at guerrilla warfare, often attacking from the shadows, using the dense vegetation of the marshlands to their advantage. Though they are not a particularly advanced civilization, their knowledge of survival and combat is highly refined, making them a force to be reckoned with.

Perhaps the most terrifying aspect of the Cabros is their close bond with the Tyranox, a powerful “beast of burden” native to the Wildlands. The Cabros have learned to train and ride these creatures into battle, making them even more dangerous when they charge at their enemies. The sight of a Cabros warband mounted on Tyranox, charging through the swamps, is enough to send fear into the hearts of any who dare challenge them. Feared and hated by the good people of the land, the Cabros remain one of the most dangerous inhabitants of the Wildlands.
Voodoo Magic
While rare, the most intelligent of the Cabros were able to learn and use Voodoo cantrips. These cabros were druidic in nature and served as the soothsayers of the Cabros basks.
