Akatore, who were known as “Black Fins” by most denizens of the Wildands, were a wicked and evil sub race of the aquatic Anaqua of Vüdos.
Description
Physically, the Akatore were very similar to their common land-dwelling Anaqua with a few obvious differences. Akatore had more distinct aquatic features compared to Anaqua, including larger fin-like appendages around their head and limbs. In addition, the head of an Akatore appeared slightly more fish-like then common Anaqua. Akatore had either dark grey or even charcoal skin and their eyes would shed a dim bioluminescent orange or green. Their glowing eyes made them easily identifiable at a distance.
While the Anaqua evolved to be able to live their entire lives on land, the Akatore were still biologically connected to water itself and could not remain on dry land for longer than a few hours at a time. They did possess greater abilities with swimming and underwater skills than their land-dwelling counterparts.
World Under the Sea
While the Anaqua spent most of their lives on land, the Akatore spent most of theirs below the water’s surface. The Akatore had built villages both at the bottom of shallow seas, as well as villages that were on the surface but tied to the sea floor, allowing the entire village to float upon the water. These floating villages were not meant for dwelling, rather as areas above the surface that were used for anything from social spaces to strategic maritime outposts.
Akatore vs. Anaqua
The Akatore had a long history of conflict and battle with the mostly land-dwelling Anaqua. Many wars had been fought on the coastlines of Vüdos as well as out in the open sea. Akatore would often attack the Anaqua sea vessels and invade costal villages. However, the Anaqua was victorious in most conflicts given their larger numbers and greater resources.

Trident & Net
Akatore were known to master both the Trident & Net for both combat and sailing and fishing utility. Using a technique they called, “Gorapa!”, they were able to use these weapons simultaneously to subdue and attack adversaries during melee combat.
Acidic Spittle
Akatore had a toxic, acidic spittle that they were able to use in combat. This spittle was derived from their life in the salty, often acidic waters of the Wildlands shallow oceans.
Blood Scent & Evil Aggression
The Akatore were chaotic evil creatures and were considered dangerous and highly-aggressive, particularly towards good-fearing, land-dwelling creatures. They were flesh easters and they could smell blood in water up to 1-mile away. The closer they came to the source of the blood, the more desperate they would become in finding it. They could enter a blood rage.
Regions
Most Akatore dwelled in the oceans off the coast of Vüdos, Streng and T’ssara.
Arca’non Pantheon
Like other Anaqua, the Akatore worshipped deities of the Arca’non Elemental Pantheon.
History
Writings about the Akatore in the Ex Arcanotis show their kind splintered from the Anaqua race during the “great creation” of Epoch II Origins.
Arias Undra
Akatore began building cities within the Arias Undra, a massive series of caverns found roughly 120 miles off the coastline of south-central Vüdos. These incredible caverns contained vast amounts of Alkemoss, a type of sea lichen that produced a green-colored luminescence. The cavers spanned over 100 miles and were filled with deep crevasses that formed large lakes and deep streams all throughout it. During the late period of Epoch II Origins, the Akatore made these caverns their homeland and would go on to build a series of small cities within them.
